MDS Training Day and Medicals
Join our team of experienced ultra organisers and athletes for a training day in Edinburgh.
Instructors:
Donnie Campbell, personal trainer and experienced ultra runner. Donnie has won the Scottish Ultra and been in the winning team for Scottish Ultra and Eagle Isle Ultra. In 2011 he ran non-stop from Glasgow to Portree. A former Royal Marine, he now works as a personal trainer with a special interest in running and ultras.
Andrew Murray, Expedition doctor and ultra athlete. Andrew has competed in, and won, numerous ultra marathons including Racing the Planet Sahara Race, Gobi Challenge, Scottish Ultra, 6633ultra and many more. He is an authority on the medical and nutritional aspects of ultra racing as well as being a first rate ultra runner. Andrew will be on hand to provide medical examinations and ECG's in line with entry requirements for the Marathon Des Sables.
David Scott, Race Director of Gobi Challenge and Scottish Ultra and a veteran of many ultra events (including MDS) and extreme wilderness challenges. As a physiologist Dave studied performance in extreme environments including desert, altitude and cold weather.
The weekend will feature a long morning run (fully kitted) with the afternoons dedicated to practical demonstrations, testing gear and food and high quality lectures from our instructors.
The weekend will be pitched at those taking part in desert ultras and will be an ideal opportunity for anyone taking on the Marathon des Sables or Gobi Challenge
