Cost: £160.00 per person which includes a Challenge polo shirt and ‘goodie’ bag.
Route: The full distance will be about 85 miles spread over 3.5 stages/days. The longest day will be approx. 28 miles and the shortest approx 8 miles. The terrain will be varied but will include sections off road as well as some on roads and footpaths.
Navigation: You will be given a ‘road book’ before the Challenge which will have comprehensive maps and instructions about each stage. We will also endevour to mark the route where possible. However, you will need to check for yourself that you are going the right way so some basic map reading may be involved.
Mandatory equipment: You will be required to carry mandatory items of equipment at all times – these will be checked before you start and at random during the Challenge. Failure to have the necessary items will liable you to disqualification.
Time limits: We will not be imposing stage time limits other than that you need to be at the next finish point before dark on each stage.
Food and water: You will be required to carry any food you need for the duration of the Challenge with you. You may purchase supplies en route but there won’t be many shops so you essentially need to provision for three days. You will be provided with hot water each evening at the finish point of each stage for cooking and washing as well as in the morning before you leave. You will receive comprehensive information and advice about this aspect of the Challenge once you have entered.
Accommodation: Accommodation at the end of each stage will be rudimentary but dry.
Checkpoints: There will be checkpoints at regular intervals on each stage where you will have access to water and first aid.
Medical: We will have a full medical team at all times to deal with first aid issues and other medical needs as they arise.
Awards: All finishers will receive an award commemorating their achievement. There will be additional awards in various categories which will be announced nearer the Challenge.
